Recycling Centers
Each Town & City own and operate a Community Recycling Center (CRC). Residents of the surrounding area of each Town and City may take their household recyclables to the CRC.
Bins
There are bins provided in each CRC so that individuals wishing to drop-off their household recyclables may do so. All the bins are labeled denoting what household recyclable is to be placed in which bin. Specific hours are established for each CRC. Volunteers operate the CRCs and process the household recyclables collected in the bins and place empty bins back for the next month.
Process
All collected household recyclables are then sorted, processed and stored until a sufficient quantity is available for transportation to market. The household recyclables collected at the CRCs are determined by the designated recyclables list that is updated each February by the Douglas County Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC).
Designated Materials
The CRCs are open to the residents free of charge for most designated recyclables, and will only accept those specific recyclables listed. The CRCs would ask their citizens not to contaminate their Community Recycling Center with household garbage or non-designated recyclables. Please do your part to maintain the successful operation of the Community Recycling Centers for all its citizens.
