About the Treasurer
The Treasurer acts as the County bank. The Treasurer is responsible for the receipt, investment, and disbursement of all funds collected. These include property taxes, real estate excise taxes, state and federal apportionments, and revenue collected by all districts within the county.
In addition, the Douglas County Treasurer is contracted by five irrigation districts within the County as well as the Greater East Wenatchee Storm Water Utility to bill and collect their assessments. Click the links at left for more information on Irrigation and Storm Water Utility assessments.
The Treasurer is also responsible for foreclosing, seizing, and selling property as a result of delinquent property taxes. These actions are authorized and mandated by state law.
The County Treasurer acts as agent for the Department of Revenue regarding the collection of Real Estate Excise Tax. Please see the link at left titled “Real Estate Excise Tax Information” for details and assistance with filing and payment of the Real Estate Excise Tax.
